Cette visite découvre des noms de rues coloniales comme Kiautschoustraße, Pekingerplatz et Samoastraße à Berlin-Wedding, retraçant l'héritage du colonialisme allemand à Qingdao, Pékin et Apia.
Bien que de courte durée et largement limitée, l’ambition coloniale allemande en Chine a eu un impact profond. Cela a accéléré la chute de l’Empire chinois et déclenché un mouvement étudiant qui a changé la trajectoire de la Chine.
Les conséquences de la répression du mouvement Yihetuan par les Huit Nations Alliées (1900-1901) restent également tangibles dans les musées allemands, où sont conservés un nombre considérable d'objets de valeur pillés en Chine.
Cette tournée explorera également l'interdépendance entre les sphères d'influence de l'Allemagne en Chine et aux Samoa, en se plongant dans l'exploitation des ressources naturelles et de la main-d'œuvre bon marché qui ont alimenté les gains du capitalisme allemand.
