A Forum on Memory Culture in the Context of Colonialism, Racism and Migration
As part of a forum, the city of Hamburg, the pilot project Dekoloniale memory culture in the city and the Federal Agency for Civic Education will open the discussion in autumn/winter 2022 about the concept to be developed for a new place of learning and remembrance of colonialism in Germany: How do you not only remember to colonialism, but also to its consequences – especially racism and migration? How can the local culture of remembrance become more European, more global and more polyphonic? How and with whom does the concept for a place of learning and remembrance of colonialism emerge? And which stories should be told at all?
Discussion: Dr. Noa K. Ha, Urban researcher, guest lecturer at the Weissensee Kunsthochschule Berlin and associated researcher of NaDiRa, Dr. Ibou Diop, project management: City-wide concept of remembrance. Colonialism & Dekoloniale Development[s], Iris Rajanayagam, Program Officer - Federal Agency for Civic Education.
