On Thursday, April 21, 2022 a memorial plaque »Berliner Gedenktafel« for the important afrodiasporic activist Joseph Ekwe Bilé will be unveiled.
Joseph Ekwe Bilé, born in Douala in 1892, was a German-Cameroonian communist and architect who campaigned for the rights of black people.
The Senate Department for Culture and Europe in conjunction with the Active Museum Fascism and Resistance in Berlin eV and Dekoloniale Memory Culture in the City invites you to the unveiling on April 21, 2022 at 4 p.m. at Bülowstraße 39, 10783 Berlin-Schöneberg .
The greeting will be given by Dr. Christine Regus (head of the memorials, museums, fine arts department) and Anna Yeboah (overall coordination, Dekoloniale of Memory Culture in the City). The laudatory speech will be given by Prof. Dr. Hold Robbie Aitken (historian).
