Julia Grosse studied art history, German language and literature, and media studies at the Ruhr University in Bochum and worked as a columnist and cultural journalist in London for taz, FAS, AD Magazine, SZ Magazin, and Süddeutsche Zeitung. Grosse has contributed to various art publications and authored books, including "A Lifetime" (2018, Hoffman and Campe). In 2020, she curated "Friendly Confrontations. Festival on Global Art and Institutional Critique" at the Kammerspiele in Munich.
Yvette Mutumba studied art history at the Free University of Berlin and received her PhD from Birkbeck, University of London. She was part of the curatorial team of the 10th Berlin Biennale (2018) and Visiting Professor of Global Discourses at the Academy of Media Arts, Cologne (2017-2018). From 2012 to 2016, she was a curator at the Weltkulturen Museum in Frankfurt am Main. Currently, she is also curator-at-large at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam.
Together, Grosse and Mutumba are co-founders and artistic directors of the Contemporary And (C&) platform and teach as lecturers at the Institute for Art in Context at the UdK Berlin. In 2020, they were jointly awarded the "European Cultural Manager of the Year" prize.
